The hose should go to the port on the side of the metering block, not the one on the base plate. The metering block port provides vacuum as you accelerate. The one on the base plate has vacuum at idle which is not when you want to advance the timing. The total advance will remain the same.

Most engines are set up to use the venturi or ported vacuum signal to advance the timing as rpm and load increase, by reading the lower vacuum produced by the higher airflow through the carb. Nettet25. aug. 2008 · Discussion Starter · #1 · Aug 25, 2008. Well I just relized that my carb has no vacuum ports. Its a Holly 9381 race carb. I didnt even think of it when I bought it. Also, the carb sitting on my air gap - - the rear fuel bowl blocks my only vacuum port on the manifold. I just need to run vacuum advance on my HEI, and PCV.
