"Black Death" is caused by the exhaust gasses leaking past the injector and then melting the soundproofing foam into a black tar. I would recommend removing the sound proofing to avoid ever having to deal with it. The engine noise is only a bit louder at idle.

I agree with WD40 or more oil after the soap test. Corrosion in the injector wells can be a problem. Check for any cracks in the aluminum castings.
